There has been a huge response to the series of tenders in Australia for large-scale solar projects. The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), Ergon Energy and the Queensland government are overwhelmed with proposals. This is a major impetus to the hitherto slow pace of big solar projects in the country. The pace has quickened given the removal of uncertainties that existed in the policies. ARENA has made grants of around $100 million available while CEFC is offering up to maximum of $250million as finance. The tenders of the other two agencies mentioned are underway.
We at Start Solar understand the need to harness and leverage these opportunities and are committed to working with the establishments and citizens of the country to improve the quality and standard of power available. The costs of solar power systems are now much lower as the demand has gone up and infrastructure within the country allows for better logistics and smoother flow of supplies.
The Queensland government is about to auction a 60MW capacity project, which is a clear indicator of the commitment towards solar power projects. The 20-year power purchase agreements on offer within this project have also garnered widespread interest.
